TREND WATCH Fragrant Flowers

The season brings beautiful new blooms – and beaucoup treatment options for floral spa services.

Debra Morra says clients are drawn to her spa for its name. “People naturally associate it with relaxation,” says the owner of Lavender Fields Day Spa (lavenderfieldsdayspa.com)in Plainville, Connecticut. But the facility has an intimate relationship with all flowers. Morra works with a local florist who brings them in fresh daily. They’re used in arrangements for the spa’s décor and in treatments.

The Botanical Pedicure (60 min/$45) which is billed as a “calmer” alternative to a spa pedicure, is performed in a tucked-away area of the facility. It uses pedicure bowls, and on of six custom recipes – Margarita, Creamsicle, Lavender, Milk & Honey, Peppermint or Tahitian Tropics – each of which includes a signature blend of herbs, aromatherapy oils and fresh flower petals. “We use whatever’s in season and locally grown,” Morra says. “It can be different day-to-day.”

After clients soak their feed in the botanical mixture, they’re treated to nail shaping, callus care, polish application and foot massage. “We wanted to do something you wouldn’t see in another spa’s menu.” Morra says. “It’s also good for the skin and environment.”…
